Bringing two worlds together
ABOUT MIRROR MENTOR/
An unlikely union between a young entrepreneur from Brixton and a TV executive turned professional empowerment coach from Cambridge has spawned an entirely new nationwide form of mentoring scheme called ‘Mirror Mentor’.
Jeremiah Emmanuel, 20 and Remy Blumenfeld, 53 have pioneered this new approach together over the past 12 months.
‘Mirror Mentor’ pairs people from different backgrounds and generations, to mentor each other simultaneously, sharing their experience and insights to a provide a fresh perspective for the other.
Due to the success of their own shared experience of this new relationship – Emmanuel and Blumenfeld have decided to launch the ‘Mirror Mentor’ scheme, so others can benefit from this method across the U.K.
How it works
The ‘Mirror Mentor’ scheme, is delivered by the EMNL Group (founded by Jeremiah) - who have already begun identifying professionals nationwide from a wide variety of industries, including media, banking, entertainment and manufacturing who will be matched with Gen Zers from different socio-economic backgrounds among the more than 30,000 people already on EMNL’s database.
Following a rigorous selection process a Gen-Xer is paired up with a Gen-Zer. We strive to connect a young person and adult who we believe will have the most impactful relationship possible.
Remy's top tips from Jeremiah:
Keep it real – authenticity is everything
Keep it short- Two minutes is long, 30 seconds is better
Be vulnerable - Share your fear and pain
Be flawed - make mistakes and own them
Be everywhere - It’s not enough to post words and pictures. Some people only listen to audio other people only watch video. If you want to be heard you need to blog, vlog and podcast
Jeremiah's top tips from Remy:
Do your best. Forget being THE best
To make sure someone understands you, check in with them and ask them what they heard you say
Always have three things to look forward to: a work thing, a personal thing and a holiday
Don't take yourself so seriously
Own your difference
